Damnation Alley

Damnation Alley - Roger Zelazny Nutshell: Road Warrior must Escape from New York in order to deliver Cyborg to obamacarers.

Very much a prototype for a number of post-apocalyptic settings thereafter, as noted, supra.

Coolest part is the tank-car that narrator gets to drive, outfitted with "eight fifty-caliber automatic guns and four grenade-throwers," plus armor-piercing rockets, flame-throwers, and external bladed appurtenances (26).

An uncomplicated story: horrible criminal finds redemption while delivering medicines to plague victims. Quick, fun, optimistic.
